Ask and Answer | Issue 1

1. If good people don't get rewarded, should they still be good?

If the purpose of being a good person is to receive rewards, then one can never escape the endless cycle of worldly rules. One's own destiny and choices should be firmly in one's own hands.

Don't be a good person who is bound by society, nor be a bad person who is afraid of being criticized.

2. Which is more deadly, reading too little or not loving to think?**

Linking pure reading and thinking with deadliness, I think it loses the original meaning of both.

Reading and thinking are both great joys in life, and should not be limited to the results. What matters is the process, the sparks of thought, and the stirring of the soul.

3. Why study philosophy?**

Philosophy does not report any facts, so it cannot solve any problems with specific or physical methods. For example, it cannot make people immortal or make them rich. However, it can provide a perspective that shows the equivalence of life and death, and the interplay of gains and losses. From a utilitarian perspective, philosophy is indeed useless, but this perspective is also a guide to life. As Zhuangzi said, philosophy is the "use of the useless".

4. Which has a higher status, science or philosophy?**

One is natural science, the other is social science; one is used for "development", the other is used for "survival", and there is no distinction between high and low.

5. Does philosophy have an optimal solution to its problems?**

Under different "depths", at different "times", and under different "geographical conditions", there is not a unique and repetitive optimal solution.
